A seemingly peaceful Valentine’s Day evening turned into a tragedy when a woman in her 40s was fatally shot outside The Three Horseshoes pub in Knockholt, Kent. The victim, identified locally as Lisa Stockings, a mother of two, was tragically taken from her family. Authorities are investigating the possibility of a murder-suicide after reports suggest the suspect, her husband, was involved.
The Incident
Around 7 pm on February 14, patrons of The Three Horseshoes were startled by what sounded like fireworks from the pub’s car park. Michelle Thomas, the landlady, initially thought nothing of it. However, upon investigating, she was met with the horrifying scene of chaos and confusion as approximately 50 patrons realized what had just occurred. Lisa Stockings was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect and Ongoing Investigation
The suspect, Edvard Stockings, Lisa’s husband, quickly fled the scene after the shooting. Authorities later discovered his vehicle and a firearm near the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge at Dartford Crossing, raising fears that he may have entered the River Thames. A search operation is ongoing as investigators piece together the details of this heartbreaking incident.
Detective Chief Inspector David Higham reassured the public that there is no ongoing risk, emphasizing that their focus remains on the suspect. Specialist officers are also providing much-needed support to the families affected by this devastating event.
Community in Mourning
The close-knit community of Knockholt is in shock, grappling with the tragic loss of Lisa. Locals have laid down floral tributes near The Three Horseshoes as they come together to grieve. Despite the tragedy, the pub reopened soon after, with the landlady and the patrons leaning on each other for support during this incredibly difficult time.
